Mission is an important part of the life and ministry of this congregation. We participate in a variety of missions including: Presbyterian Missions, UCC Missions, Christian Needs Center, Senior Helpmate, Mission Honduras, Gospel Mission, Hospice of Siouxland, Ecumenical Institute, Domestic Abuse Council, One Great Hour of Sharing, Life Skills, Presbyterian Camp on Okoboji and Living Waters for the World.
We connected with eight other area Presbyterian churches and made a covenant with Living Waters for the World to work with partners at the Trinity House in Jacmel, Haiti as they build a system that will provide clean water to their neighborhood. We carried out our plan and were successful in getting the clean water system running.
Blue Bag Ministry
The Presbyterian Woman (PW) of the church sponsor the “Grocery Bag Ministry”. This ministry helps our neighbors in the Plymouth County area through the Christian Needs Center. Blue grocery bags with a list of current needs are distributed to the congregation the third Sunday of each month. The filled bags are returned on the fourth Sunday.
We are also involved in the Plymouth County Church Organizations Active in Disasters (PCCOAD). This is a mission of our area ministerial association. This endeavor will provide victim navigation through disaster relief service and assist where the gaps exist. We will work in the local area and the six county region in cooperation with the Red Cross and other COAD’s. These groups of volunteers can be called upon to partner with other community supportive disasters relief agencies and businesses. We address the needs of the community while acting as a buffer for the victims of natural and human disasters and focusing on assistance with housing, emotional trauma, spiritual needs and relocation.
